The metering system in a digital camera measures the amount of light in the scene and calculates the best-fit exposure value based on the metering mode. There are 3 types of metering mode:

1. Overall Metering (Multi Segment/Zone Metering)
2. Spot/Partial Metering 
3. Center Weighted Metering

White Balance (WB) is the process of rendering the colours in the photograph so that it appears more neutral. Some times there is a blue or yellow cast and this can be removed with shifting the white balance so that original white colours looks white!

Measurement of White Balance can be done in Kelvins..

• Candle Flame 1,500 K
• Incandescent 3,000 K
• Sunrise, Sunset 3,500 K
• Midday Sun, Flash 5,500 K
• Bright Sun, Clear Sky  6,000 K
• Cloudy Sky, Shade 7,000 K
• Blue Sky  9,000 K

Taking RAW formats will help correct these issues with white balance
